PHOTOS – Henderson County Wins the Region I Swim Title

Henderson County captured the Region I swimming championship on Monday and will have nine entries at Saturday’s KHSAA State First Round in Bowling Green.

The Colonels won the region title in three events and were runner-up in two others.

Henderson County totaled 354 points to finish 30 points ahead of second-place Murray. Melanie Murray was named the Region I Boys Swim Coach of the Year.

Max Mays won the 200-yard IM, scoring a three-second victory over Murray’s Colden Cochran in 2:12.92. He finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.65 seconds.

Seth Boggess claimed the region championship in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:53.15 and was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.57 seconds.

Caden Boggess was region runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:03.05 and came in fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly in 59.71 seconds.

Boone Thompson was region runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.94, getting nipped at the wall by Murray’s Colden Cochran by .03 seconds. He was also fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.61 seconds.

Nate Raymer finished in fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle in 58.53 seconds and was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.93.

Jack Logan came in fifth place in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.46 seconds and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:15.39.

John Couch was sixth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.35 and seventh in the 200-yard IM in 2:37.14.

Cameron Anderson finished in seventh place in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:22.93 and ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:22.78.

Jack Dalton was 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:31.68 and 15th in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:57.92.

Peyton Sheffer was 13th in the 50-yard freestyle in 31.87 seconds.

Brennan Wright came in 14th place in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:38.49 and 16th place in the 50-yard freestyle in 33.65 seconds.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Max Mays, Seth Boggess, Caden Boggess, and Boone Thompson cruised to the region title in 3:45.16, defeating second-place Fort Campbell by nearly 30 seconds.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Max Mays, Caden Boggess, Boone Thompson, and Jack Logan finished in third place in 1:47.36.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Nate Raymer, Seth Boggess, John Couch, and Jack Logan finished in third place in 1:41.58.
