The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers basketball team went into their Friday evening matchup with McLean County looking for their second win of the season. Unfortunately for them that did not happen, and the Lady Cougars were able to get the commanding 75-25 win.

McLean County got started very early with 28 points in the first quarter compared to just four from the Lady Tigers. The Lady Cougars hit five threes in the opening period, which were vital to them taking such a commanding lead.

It was more of the same in the second quarter, with Hopkinsville this time around scoring five compared to McLean’s 23. More made shots from beyond the arc led the Lady Cougars to take a 51-9 lead at the halftime break.

The third quarter actually saw the Lady Tigers outscore McLean 11-10, all thanks to four of the players getting in the scoring column in the period.

But this did not stop the outcome, as all the Lady Cougars needed to do in the fourth and final quarter was score five points to secure their dominant victory.

This is now the third time in four meetings that McLean has gotten the best of Hopkinsville, with the only win the Lady Tigers got in that time frame was in February of 2024.

Serenity Ewing led Hopkinsville in scoring with nine points, while Aubriana Johnson was also able to contribute eight of her own over the course of the game.

The Lady Tigers will be looking to get back on the right track in their next game against Logan County on Tuesday, February 10. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Hopkinsville High School.
