Trigg County had an answer for everything Livingston Central threw at them on Monday, except in one area – Logan Wring.

The senior forward scored 21 of his 29 points in the second half to lift Livingston Central to a 66-55 win over the Wildcats in Smithland.

The win means Livingston Central will be the No. 2 seed in the district tournament, which begins in two weeks, while Trigg will be the No. 3 seed. However, the seeding only determines that Livingston will wear their home whites when they meet Trigg County on Crittenden County’s home floor.

Trigg County played without its second-leading scorer, Davaree Gude, who missed the game due to illness. Landon Swann hit three 3-pointers in the first half, and Caden Scott came off the bench to add three more to keep Trigg County in the ballgame.

The Cardinals used a 12-0 run midway through the second quarter to grab a 28-20 lead at intermission.

Wring was more productive on the glass in the first half with nine rebounds and eight points at the break. However, the 2,000 point scorer and 1,000 career rebounder went to work in the second half.

He scored Livingston’s first five points of the second half to extend the Cardinal lead to 33-20. They kept their lead in the double-digits in the second half. Ethan Garner buried a 3-pointer ahead of the third quarter horn to push the Cardinal lead to 49-34.

Down by 19 points less than a minute into the fourth quarter, the Wildcats began to chip into the deficit. Scott hit consecutive 3-pointers, and Karmelo Dixon followed with four points.

Livingston endured a three-minute scoring drought as the Wildcats got to within eight points with 1:53 left. However, they wouldn’t get closer as Wring scored Livingston’s final 11 points.

In addition to his 29 points, Wring added 17 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Garner added 12 points for Livingston Central, who scored 24 points off 20 Trigg turnovers.

Swann and Scott each ended with 15 points for the Wildcats, with the 15 a new career high for the lefty Scott. Zammarion Broussard had a solid game with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Trigg County hit 10 of 25 shots from both two-point and three-point range, but was limited to 6 of 17 shots in the paint.

Livingston outscored Trigg 32-20 in the paint.

The Cardinals finish off the regular season sweep of the Wildcats and improve to 11-9, while Trigg drops to 7-16. The Cardinals will host Union County on Tuesday, while Trigg County travels to Caldwell County.
