A quick start was the key for the Henderson County Colonels Tuesday night. Henderson built an early 10-point lead and rolled on to a 61-46 win over the Hopkinsville Tigers in Henderson.
The Henderson defense limited Hopkinsville to just four points in the first quarter on the way to building a 14-4 lead.
The Colonels extended that lead in the second, moving the margin out to 31-18 at the half.
Hopkinsville was not able to make any headway as the second half got started and the Colonels took a 44-30 lead into the final eight minutes of the game.
James Bradley Jr. was the only Tiger to hit double figures for the game. He finished with 20 points. Jonovan Leavell added 8 points for the Tigers, who dropped their third straight decision.
Xavion Johnson and Amare Stewart led Henderson County with 10 points apiece. MaLaikye Taylor finished with 9 points.
The Tigers drop to 14-12 for the season and get back on the road Saturday to take on McCracken County.
