A four-point first quarter proved too much for Hopkinsville High School to overcome in a 61-46 loss at Henderson County on Tuesday. The Colonels, the 2nd Region’s RPI leaders, improved to 19-4 with their 8th straight victory.
The Tigers were slow to find the range early on, trailing 14-4 thanks in part to five points from Henderson’s Xavion Johnson. Hoptown’s James Bradley, Jr. got going with six points in the second quarter, but the Colonels got four each from three players to extend the lead to 31-18 at the halftime break.
Only one point separated the teams in both the third and fourth quarters, and the Colonels cruised to their fourth-straight win over the Tigers. Bradley, Jr. scored nine points in the fourth to finish with a game-high 20, but no other Tiger scored more than eight.
Hopkinsville slipped to 14-12 with its third-straight defeat. The Tigers will travel to McCracken County on Saturday before closing out the regular season at home against Union County.
Johnson and Amare Stewart each scored 10 for Henderson, and the Colonels had five other players score at least six points.
