
Rahsean Stevenson poured in 28 points to pace the Christian County Colonels in a 74-65 victory over Muhlenberg County on Tuesday in Colonel Gym. The Colonels won their second straight for the third time this season, and will look to put together their longest winning run of the year with 8th-District matchups with Fort Campbell and University Heights coming up.
Stevenson got started with six points in the opening frame, and Darren Bigbee added five to give the Colonels a narrow 18-17 edge. Stevenson and Bigbee again combined for 11 points in the second quarter to go with six from Jay Henderson for a 38-36 lead at the halftime break.
Stevenson scored 12 of the Colonels’ 18 points in the third to create some breathing room. Christian County held the Mustangs to only 10 points to open up a double-digit advantage with a quarter to play.
Ivan Sparks scored seven of his team-high 15 points in the fourth to try to lead a Muhlenberg comeback, but Franklin Pollard scored six and Stevenson and James Farley added four each to seal the win.
Henderson finished with 13 and Bigbee scored 10 to help the Colonels improve to 8-11. Muhlenberg slipped to 14-10.
