The Christian County Lady Colonels went into their Wednesday evening matchup with Fort Campbell looking to bounce back from a loss, while the Lady Falcons went in looking for their second straight win. It was the Lady Colonels who accomplished their goal, and they did so with a score of 75-10.
Christian County got off to a very quick 12-0 start, and Fort Campbell was finally able to get their first basket about three and a half minutes in from Kyndal Bradley.
Anaysia Bagwell and Carlie Hobson combined for 21 in the first quarter, which helped the Lady Colonels take a commanding 36-4 lead after the first eight minutes.
Genesis McGee led the Lady Colonels in scoring in the second quarter with six points, which helped the team extend their lead. The Lady Falcons were not able to score a basket in the second period, which led to them being down 53-4 at the half.
Bradley made four free throws in the third quarter to match Fort Campbell’s point total from the first half. But that did not stop Christian County from further extending their lead and going into the final period up 63-8.
After that all it took was 12 in the fourth quarter from the Lady Colonels to close out the game and get their ninth win of the season.
This means that the Christian County Lady Colonels have still not lost to Fort Campbell in the last almost 30 years.
Their leading scorer in the game was Bagwell with 20 points, 17 of which came in the first half. McGee and Carlie Hobson were both also able to get into double-digits with 12 points apiece.
As for the Lady Falcons, Bradley led the way with six points, while A’mari Grimsley had the other four points.
Fort Campbell will be looking to bounce right back in their next game on Thursday, February 12, against Warren East. The game will be played at 6 p.m. at Fort Campbell High School.
The Lady Colonels will be hoping that they can start a win streak in their next one against the Murray High Lady Tigers on Friday, February 13. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Christian County High School.
