Todd Griffin of YourSportsEdge.com and WPKY Radio was recognized for his nearly 40 years of service during Tuesday’s Caldwell County basketball game with Trigg County.

Griffin is a 1987 graduate of Caldwell County High School and has provided sports coverage of Tiger and Lady Tiger sports for nearly four decades. He began at WPKY Radio in 1986 and worked there until December 1994. He did play-by-play for Caldwell County football and basketball broadcasts from the 1989-90 season, and added Caldwell baseball in 1990-91.

Griffin moved to the Princeton-Times Leader in January 1995, working in the darkroom and assisting with sports coverage. He became sports editor in 1997 and held that position until December 2018, where he put together one of the best high school sports sections in the state.

In 2019, he expanded his role to covering Second Region sports for YourSportsEdge.com.

He has won more than 60 Kentucky Press Association awards and two National Newspaper Association awards, and he published “100 Years of Tiger Football” in 2010. He is also a member of the Caldwell County Football Hall of Fame.

He has seen 448 straight Tiger football games and over 1,500 Caldwell County basketball games.

Griffin shared what this honor means to him and how sports have changed over the years.

He feels like he has been present in the high school gym as much as any other resident.

Caldwell County High School Athletic Director Jeff Riley explained why they decided to recognize Griffin.

Riley expressed how much the school system appreciates Griffin.

Riley also shared his appreciation for WPKY and the Edge Media Group.

Griffin added that he does not plan to go anywhere soon and looks forward to covering more sporting events.

Griffin has been part of the YourSportsEdge.com team that has also been recognized at the statewide level by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association and the Kentucky Athletic Administrators Association.
