The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers went into their matchup with Crittenden County looking to snap their 12-game losing streak. However, they were unable to do that, and they fell to the Lady Rockets on the road 77-22.

Crittenden got off to a very hot start in the first quarter with 26 points in the first eight minutes. Unfortunately for the Lady Tigers, they were only able to put up six points and went down by 20 going into the second.

The next period was much better for the Lady Tigers, with Serenity Ewing scoring seven to lead the team to an 12-point quarter. But the Lady Rockets picked up right where they left off and scored 22 behind four three-pointers.

This led Crittenden to have a 48-18 lead going into the halftime break.

Hopkinsville’s offense really stalled out of the locker room, as the only point they were able to score came from a free throw from Laelah Watkins. That, along with a 16-point third and a 13-point fourth quarter helped the Lady Rockets close out the game and get the win.

This is the third time in the last four meetings that Crittenden has gotten the best of Hopkinsville, as the only Lady Tigers win against the Lady Rockets in the last seven years came in February of 2024.

Ewing led the way for Hopkinsville with 10 points over the course of the game, and Watkins contributed seven of her own.

They will be looking to help the team bounce back in their next game against the Lady Panthers of Russellville on Saturday, February 21. This will be the Lady Tigers’ final game of the regular season and will be played at 1 p.m. at Russellville High School.
