The Dawson Springs Lady Panthers had won their last game going into their Monday evening matchup with Webster County, while the Lady Trojans had lost their last contest. Both of those streaks did not continue, as Webster was able to take advantage of their home floor and get the win 45-26.

Webster County got out to a good start by outscoring the Lady Panthers 12-4 in the first quarter. Alieah Cook and Briley Sawyer scored the buckets for Dawson Springs, but that did not stop them from going down by eight after the first eight minutes.

The second quarter was a bit better for Dawson, as Sawyer scored four, matching the team’s score in the first. Alyssa Allison also hit a shot from beyond the arc, but that did not stop the Lady Trojans from taking a 20-11 lead at the half.

Baylee and Ashtyn Swatzell broke into the scoring column for the first time in the third period with a bucket apiece. Allison made another three-pointer, but unfortunately for the Lady Panthers, Webster had their best quarter in the third with 15 points.

This led to the Lady Trojans taking a 17-point lead going into the fourth and final quarter of the game.

After that, all it took was 10 from Webster County in the fourth to close out the game and hand the Dawson girls a loss on their road trip.

This is the 15th time in a row that the Lady Trojans have come out on top against Dawson Springs, and the last time the Lady Panthers did that was back in February of 2003.

Dawson Springs’ leading scorers in the game were Allison and Sawyer with eight points apiece. Other than them, the Lady Panthers had five players score at least a bucket.

The team will be looking to bounce back and get a win in their next game against the Lady Eagles of Christian Fellowship on Tuesday, February 17. Their game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Christian Fellowship.
