Trigg County Closes Regular Season With Win Over HCA

The Trigg County Lady Wildcats closed out the regular season with a 60-10 win over Heritage Christian Academy on Tuesday at Wildcat Gym.

Trigg will take a 12-13 record into next week’s 5th District Tournament.

The Lady Wildcats scored the first 21 points of the contest and led 24-3 after the first eight minutes before substituting freely in the second quarter.

Veyda Grinols had career highs in points (30) and steals (13), falling two steals short of Karen Johnson’s school record of 15 set in 1980. As a team, Trigg established a new school mark for steals in a game with 33, breaking the old mark of 31 set against Crittenden County in 1980.

Eight Lady Wildcats found the scorebook with Allayah Hargrove and Aniyah Dawson each hitting their first career 3-pointers.

Ava DeJager scored three points and pulled down six rebounds for HCA, and Allie B. Craft added two points, nine rebounds, and three steals.

Heritage Christian will close its season at Dawson Springs on Thursday.

Trigg County will play Lyon County in the 5th District semifinals on Monday at Crittenden County.
