The final regular season home game in Christian County basketball history was played on Tuesday evening between the Colonels and Todd County Central. Christian County was able to continue their win streak and best the Rebels 64-47.
Todd Central took a 12-5 lead after the first quarter, as the Colonels got off to a very slow start. Conner Holder led the way for the Rebels in the quarter with five points, which helped them take a seven point lead after the first eight minutes.
The second period is where the Colonels finally got it going, and they did so with 23 points. Rahsean Stevenson put the team on his back in the quarter, scoring almost half of the team’s points in the second, and leading Christian County to a six point lead at the half.
They kept it going after coming out of the locker room with 26 points compared to the Rebels’ 13. Holder hit a couple more shots from beyond the arc, but that did not compare to the 14 that Stevenson and Jay Henderson combined for in the quarter.
After that, all it took was 10 points in the fourth and final quarter from Christian County to help the Colonels close out their final home game and get their sixth win in a row.
This is the third matchup in a row with Todd County Central that Christian County has come out on top, as the last win the Rebels got in the all-time series was back in January of 2002.
The Colonels were led in the game by Stevenson with 19 points, all of which came in the paint. Darren Bigbee and Zyon Wharton both also got into double-digits with 10 points apiece.
They will be looking to help the team close out their final regular season on a win streak. Their final game of the year will be on Thursday, February 19, against Logan County. The game will begin at 7:45 p.m. at Logan County High School.
As for Todd County Central, they will be hoping to bounce back in their next game against the Bluegrass Blazers on Friday, February 20. That will be their second-to-last game of the season, and is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. at Todd County Central High School.
