
For the second time in three seasons, Lyon County has a finalist for Kentucky Mr. Basketball. Senior Bray Kirk is on the list for this year’s award after being named the 2nd Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Basketball Coaches Association.
Each of the 16 region players of the year becomes a finalist for the state’s top individual basketball award.
Two years ago, Travis Perry was the 2nd Region Player of the Year and then went on to win the Mr. Basketball award as Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer.
Kirk entered Thursday night’s game against St. Mary averaging 21.3 points per game. He is shooting 55.1 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from behind the arc.
At the free throw line, he is making 75.3 percent of his shots. He also averages 3.6 rebounds per contest.
