Fort Campbell had lost four straight games heading into their Saturday matchup with Fulton City. Despite the losing streak, the Falcons were able to bounce back and get the 66-44 win over the Bulldogs in their final game of the regular season.
The Falcons got off to a solid start in the first quarter with 16 points compared to Fulton City’s 10. Tyreek Anthony was able to score seven in the first eight minutes, which led Fort Campbell to a six-point lead going into the second.
In the next period, a combined 10 points from Kyre Ferguson and Garrett Vannatta led the way for the Falcons. The rest of the team scored six points, which was enough to go into the locker room at half up 32-19.
Fort Campbell picked up right where they left off after the halftime break, but this time Anthony was the driving force with 11 points. The team’s other six points in the third quarter came from Vannatta, as he helped lead the team to further extend their lead going into the fourth.
After that, all it took was another 17 points in the final quarter to close out the game and give the Falcons the win in their final game of the regular season.
This is the second matchup in a row with Fulton City where Fort Campbell has been able to come out on top, as the last win the Bulldogs were able to get against the Falcons was back in December of 2021.
Anthony led Fort Campbell in scoring with 27 points over the course of the game, 18 of which came in the second half. Vannatta and Ferguson were also able to get into double-digits with 17 and 12 points, respectively.
They will be hoping that they can also lead the team to a win in their next game on Tuesday, February 24, against the Hopkinsville Tigers. This will be played at Hopkinsville High School as part of the 8th District Tournament, and will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
