Lyon County dropped the hammer with 35 straight points as they defeated Crittenden County 88-35 in the fifth district semifinals on Tuesday on the Rockets’ home court.
Lyon broke an 8-8 tie with a 15-2 run midway through the first quarter. Roane Topp made a bucket with 2:52 left to get the Rockets to within 23-12 before Lyon County scored the next 35 points.
The Lyons outscored Crittenden County 56-14 in the paint and out-rebounded the Rockets 49-17. Thanks to their strong transition game, the Lyons shot 62% inside the three-point arc.
Region player of the year Bray Kirk paced four Lyons in double figures with 21 points. Nolan Coffman added 13 points and four steals, and Isaac DeFew and Kveon Cain each scored 11.
Lyon County got 44 points from its bench.
Topp led Crittenden County with seven points before exiting with a foot injury. Connor Poindexter added six points.
Crittenden County’s season ends with a 2-29 record, while Lyon County advances to the 5th District Championship on Friday with a 25-6 record – their fifth straight season with 25 wins or more. They will play Livingston Central, a 67-49 winner over Trigg County in the other semifinal.
