Livingston Central got strong nights from its seniors as they defeated Trigg County 67-49 in the Fifth District semifinal on Tuesday at Crittenden County.
Logan Wring, Bryson Walker, and Avery Zaim combined to score 60 of Livingston Central’s 67 points, with Wring providing the knockout shot with 27 points and 20 rebounds.
Trigg County consistently had two players assigned to guard Wring in the first half, with all six of his field goals coming in the paint. He also hit 15 of 19 at the free-throw line.
Walker added 21 points and 4 steals, and Zaim had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Livingston Central used an 11-2 run in the second quarter to lead 28-20 at halftime. Trigg cut the deficit to five points early in the third quarter, but would never get closer.
The Cardinals’ primary defensive focus was on Trigg’s leading scorer, Landon Swann, who came into the game averaging 18 points a game. Livingston’s box and one defense limited the Wildcat junior to just eight shots, including 0 of 4 behind the three-point arc.
As a team, Trigg hit 8 of 32 from three-point range and shot just 31% from the field.

Zammarion Broussard scored 12 points for the Wildcats, and Gude finished his Trigg County career with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Trigg County’s season ends with a record of 7-22. It’s their third straight 20-loss season, which happened last from 1990-93.
Livingston Central improves to 13-14, and they will try to end Lyon County’s seven-year run atop the district when the teams meet in the championship on Friday.
Both teams have also advanced to next week’s Second Region Tournament at Madisonville.
