Kash Daniel was a fan favorite when he played football at the University of Kentucky and was part of a senior class that won 32 games, the most wins for UK in a four-year span since 1949-52 under coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. He helped UK go to four straight bowl games from 2016-19.
He was a two-time team captain who played in 51 games with 23 starts — and the numbers would have been even higher if not for Daniel suffering several injuries. He had 168 career tackles.
Now the former UK linebacker is starting a new career at age 28. He’s a professional wrestler who will be part of the Bluegrass Brawl at The Alumni Center (3801Mall Road) in Lexington March 6 from 7-11 p.m. Daniel will be the headliner for the OVW show that will also include a meet-and-greet with former Kentucky athletes Darius Miller, Willie Cauley-Stein, Jojo Kemp and Josh Kattus.
There will also be bounce houses and food vendors available for fans.
General admission seating will be $20 at the door. Big Blue reserved tickets are $30 for second-tier seating with elevated views of the ring while Wildcat tables (six seats per table) are available for $40 per seat and include cocktail service directly to the table. VIP ringside seats are $40 and include drink runners bringing cocktails directly to your seat from the cash bar.
One of the OVW personalities taking part will be Shannon “The Dude” Grigsby of Kentucky Sports Radio. However, the star attraction is Daniel, a former star athlete at Pikeville High School and an eastern Kentucky legend.
He was a consensus three-star recruit and U.S. Army All-American Bowl selection who was team captain for the West squad. He was Kentucky’s Mr. Football, Gatorade Player of the Year and Paul Hornung Award winner his senior season.
While he was a defensive whiz at UK, he was also a quarterback at Pikeville who rushed and passed for 2,245 combined yards (1,319 passing) and 36 combined touchdowns as a senior. He also had 158 tackles and four fumble recoveries his senior year when Pikeville went 13-1.
