This week’s Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ for the week of February 23 is Christian County High School’s Avah Miller. Ava was selected based on her efforts in last week’s girls’ state wrestling tournament at Alltech Arena in Lexington.

Her first trip to the KHSAA Girls State Wrestling Tournament saw the Christian County sophomore finish in fourth place. Avah had to wrestle in six matches on Saturday, and her two losses were to Bell County’s McKenzie Webb.

After losing to Webb in the second round, Avah battled back to win three straight matches over Whitley County’s Trinity Hopkins, John Hardin’s Kaulana Kuiee, and Campbell County’s McAyla Steffen.

Miller would then lose to Webb for the second time in the third-place match.

Miller’s season ends with a 30-7 record and the first state tournament medal for a Christian County girls’ wrestler.

The Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ is selected each week from one of the five schools in Christian County (Christian County, Hopkinsville, University Heights, Heritage Christian, and Fort Campbell) based on their performance in a big game or event for their team that week.
