
The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers came in 17th place at the KHSAA Class 1A State Indoor Track and Field Meet held Tuesday in Louisville.
UHA had three entries reach the medal podium, with the 800-meter relay team scoring the best finish. Ajae Oatts, Amoree Owen, Palin Hampton, and Kendall Hancock finished in third place with a time of 1:53.04, setting a new school record. Their time was just behind Lexington Christian’s winning time of 1:50.31.
The same group finished fifth in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:31.79, also setting a new school record.
Hancock also earned a medal in the 400-meter dash, finishing eighth in a school record time of 1:03.98.
Owen came in 14th place in the 400 meters in 1:06.60 and was 20th in the 55-meter dash in 8.14 seconds.
Oatts placed 12th in the 200-meter dash in 27.94 seconds, a new school record. She was also 23rd in the 55-meter dash in 8.4 seconds.
Palin Hampton placed 17th in the long jump with a leap of 13-3.25.
