Henderson County claimed its 8th straight girls basketball region title on Saturday with a 42-39 win over Crittenden County. The Lady Colonels’ path to the championship included wins over the three highest-ranked opponents on the KHSAA RPI list: Lyon County, Hopkins County Central, and Crittenden County.
Head coach Stephen Haile says his team’s schedule, considered the 18th-toughest in the state by opponent winning percentage, prepared his team for the region title. Henderson County was 9-5 in games decided by the single digits, including three wins in the region tournament.
