Led by a three-hit, two-RBI night for Ryder Sandidge, the Madisonville-North Hopkins baseball team wrapped up the preseason on Thursday with a 15-0 five-inning victory over Trigg County.
Madisonville led 3-0 after Sandidge doubled in a run in the bottom of the 2nd, and runs on a wild pitch, two passed balls, and a Trigg error made it 8-0.
RBI singles by Blake Prow, Sandidge, and Brantley Harris highlighted a seven-run Maroon 4th for the final 15-0 score.
Harris finished with two hits and drove in two runs, and five other Maroons each had a hit and an RBI.
Evan Lear allowed only two hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts over two innings on the mound for the Maroons, and Evan Wilson also worked two frames, giving up two hits and striking out six.
James Garnett finished two-for-two at the plate for the Wildcats, while yielding seven runs, six earned, on five hits with four walks and two strikeouts over one and a third innings on the mound. Bentley Reynolds pitched one and two-thirds, allowing eight runs, five earned, on four hits with five walks and a pair of strikeouts.
Madisonville open the regular season on Tuesday when the Maroons host the defending 2nd-Region champion Lyon County Lyons.
Trigg’s opener is on Monday against visiting Christian County.
