Christian County senior Blake Boehman will continue his baseball career at the collegiate level after signing to play for Culver-Stockton College.

Boehman, a versatile player for the Colonels, said his ability to play multiple positions helped generate interest from college programs during the recruiting process.

“I think being able to play a lot of different spots helped,” Boehman said. “That versatility helped colleges see that I could help a team in different ways.”

Christian County head coach Cole Isom said Boehman is a coach’s player who has gotten better each practice and each game.

“He’s never gotten all of the praise that he probably should,” Isom said. “And today it’s awesome that he gets to go through this process; he gets his time to shine. And he has never been a problem in any way. He created his time. He did everything, checked every box that you need to do as an athlete — grades, behavior, trustworthy, and being responsible.”

As a junior, Boehman split time between the infield and outfield while batting .295 with one home run and 18 RBI, which tied for second on the team. He also scored 15 runs and stole 12 bases in 14 attempts.

As a sophomore, Boehman hit .289 and led the Colonels with 25 runs batted in.

Isom said Boehman has also shown growth as a leader entering his senior season.

“I’ve seen a different side of him this spring,” Isom said. “And that’s the leader that we need. Your best teams are always player-led, and whenever you can hand it over, you do. He’s never been the big talker, but I’ve seen him kind of blossom with that confidence, from a boy to a young man.”

Boehman said his decision to commit to Culver-Stockton was largely influenced by the coaching staff and the program’s competitive level.

“I was looking for a coaching staff that we really meshed with, and we did,” Boehman said. “And then, obviously, competitive baseball, we were looking for as well. That coaching staff was great, and it’s competitive baseball up there, so that’s what we were looking for.”

Located in Canton, Missouri, Culver-Stockton College competes in the NAIA and is a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Boehman joins Christian County teammates Andrew Mayes (Rend Lake College) and Gage Montes (Freed-Hardeman University) in signing for the next level, while a fourth player — Sebastian Dazey — has committed to Spaulding University.
