Trigg County senior Emma Dowell has been accepted into the Eastern Kentucky University PGA Golf Management Program, an opportunity that will allow her to combine her passion for golf with a pathway to a career in the golf industry.

Dowell signed with the school on Friday at Wildcat Gym. Her high school coach, Doug Hargrove, said her dedication to the sport made the opportunity a natural fit.

“I knew she had a passion for the game and a passion for the process,” Hargrove said. “The process being at practice, playing, studying the game, and being engaged in everything you do, and I knew very quickly she had that.”

During her Trigg County career, she qualified for the Class 2A State Championship multiple times and advanced to the KHSAA State First Round on three occasions, including her senior season. At the 2025 Region 1 Tournament, she shot an 18-over-par 90 to finish 14th and earn a spot in the state first round.

She shot an 87 at the Region 1 Tournament in 2024 to qualify for the state first round that year as well. Her senior season included a career-best 75 to finish second at the Trigg County Invitational.

In addition to her accomplishments on the golf course, Dowell is a three-time winner of the YourSportsEdge.com Fan Faves, becoming the first golfer to win the award in three straight years.

At Eastern Kentucky, Dowell will join one of the nation’s accredited PGA Golf Management programs. The program is one of only about 18 in the United States and is the only one of its kind in Kentucky. Students in the program earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with a PGA Golf Management concentration, while also completing PGA of America educational requirements and gaining extensive experience in the golf industry.

The curriculum blends classroom instruction with hands-on experience, including 16 months of paid internships at golf facilities, training in teaching and player development, and access to advanced technology such as swing analysis systems and launch monitors. Graduates become eligible for PGA membership and often pursue careers as golf professionals, instructors, tournament directors, or golf facility managers.
