The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons softball team played their second scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday on the road against the Calloway County Lady Lakers. Despite an impressive performance from Sadie Kirk in the mound, they fell 6-5.
Kirk got the start for the Lady Maroons, and she pitched the first four innings of the game. In those four innings, she did not allow a single hit. Not only that, she did not allow a single baserunner, as she only faced 12 batters in those four innings.
She racked up 11 strikeouts, and was also able to get an RBI for the team at the plate. The team’s other runs were driven in by Sophie Frailley, Nevaeh Lindle, and Kendall Prow. Kylie Watkins and Prwo were able to lead the team in hits with two apiece as well.
The Lady Maroons went into the final inning with the lead, but the Lady Lakers were able to put together three runs in their half to take the lead and get the win.
Madisonville will play one more scrimmage against the Lady Lyons of Lyon County on Monday, March 16. Weather permitting, the game will begin at 6 p.m. at Lyon County High School.
