In what could possibly be the final game ever between the two schools, the Christian County Lady Colonels took the first step towards the overall top seed in this year’s 8th District tournament Tuesday afternoon. Christian County got a one-hit three-inning performance from Jordan Turner to claim a 15-0 win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers on a brutally cold day at the ballpark.

The Lady Colonels had nine hits on their way to scoring in each of their three at-bats. Christian County plated 8 runs in the first, 2 runs in the second, and then closed out the game with 5 runs in the bottom of the third.

Seven different Lady Colonels had a hit in the game, led by Talyn Ezell and Alison Grant with two hits each. Ezell, Grant, Alyssa Petterson, and Jordan Turner drove in two runs each.

Hopkinsville’s lone hit in the game came off the bat of Zoey Thomas in the top of the first inning.

Jordan Turner went all three innings in the circle of Christian County, giving up one hit, striking out seven, and walking none.

Bailee Ladson went the distance for Hopkinsville and was tagged with the loss.

Christian County (1-0) heads back to the field Monday on the road at Crittenden County.

Hopkinsville (0-1) is set to host Todd County Central Thursday afternoon.
