Caldwell Girls Drop Season Opener at Paducah Tilghman

Paducah Tilghman broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning and went on to beat Caldwell County 12-2 in five innings in softball action Tuesday night in Paducah.

Tilghman scored three times in the bottom of the third, five times in the fourth and three more times in the fifth to end the game early in the 10-run mercy rule.

Sophie Key was 3-for-3 with a run batted in for the Lady Tornado.

Adrienne Romain picked up the pitching win. She allowed just one earned run on six base hits. Romain struck out 10 and walked three.

Meanwhile, Caldwell was hurt by seven errors in the contest. Only four of Tilghman’s 12 runs were earned as Alexis Wood allowed just six hits while striking out one and not issuing a free pass.

Ellie King was 2-for-3 at the plate and had an RBI for the Lady Tigers.

Caldwell’s girls will go to Trigg County on Thursday before playing at home for the first time on Friday against Henderson County.
