The Hopkins County Central Storm went into their second game of the season against the Livingston Central Cardinals having won their first of the year. They were able to start a win streak in their first home game, and they did so in commanding fashion with a 19-2 victory in just two and a half innings.
Livingston Central got the first inning started off with a run in the top, but the Storm took that personally and proceeded to score 13 runs in their half.
The majority of the runs came from a flurry of singles, and the twelfth and thirteenth scores came from a triple from Levin Stanley to close out the huge inning.
The Cardinals scored another run in the top of the second, but Hopkins Central would not let up, and went on to score another six runs.
Brody Smith and Kullen Marshall both got walked with the bases loaded for two of the six, while Stanley doubled and Peyton James singled for three of the other runs. The sixth and final one came from an error that scored Marshall from third base.
Stanley had himself a huge day at the plate with three hits and a whopping five runs batted in. James, Smith, and Neilan Bruce also all finished with two hits apiece.
As for the pitching, James was the only one who needed to take the mound for the Storm. He pitched three innings and allowed just two runs on his way to racking up six strikeouts.
Hopkins Central will be looking for their third straight win to begin the season in their next game against the Wildcats of Trigg County on Monday, March 23. First pitch is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. from Hopkins County Central High School.
