The Henderson County Lady Colonels put crooked numbers up over the final three innings to defeat Caldwell County 11-0 on Friday in Princeton.

Ahead 1-0 after two innings, Henderson struck for three runs in the third and fifth innings and four runs in the fourth to break open the close game.

Saniya Shields followed two walks in the top of the third inning with an infield hit. After a passed ball scored a run, Kamryn Timmons doubled off the top of the fence in center field to plate two more runs for a 4-0 lead.

Shields would later add a two-run single in the fourth inning to increase the Lady Colonel lead to 7-0 and scored on a groundout.

Ayden Bennett and Shields added RBI hits in the fifth to complete the Henderson scoring.

Shields finished 4 for 4 with 3 RBI and two stolen bases. Timmons, Azayah Hall, and Aubrey Risley each had a pair of hits as part of the 13-hit day for the Lady Colonels.

Adley Lewis had a second-inning double for Caldwell County, which was the victim of a few ‘atom balls’ on line drives in the contest.

Lillian Bennett struck out six and walked none, retiring the last 12 batters she faced to get the win.

Henderson County has outscored its three opponents 28-1 in the first week of the season. The Lady Colonels will host Muhlenberg County on Monday.

Caldwell County (0-3) will open district play next week with a road game at Madisonville-North Hopkins on Tuesday before hosting Dawson Springs for a doubleheader on Thursday.
