Hoptown Finishes A Strong Fourth at the Invitational of the South

The Hopkinsville Tigers finished in fourth place on Saturday at the Invitational of the South at Marshall County High School, highlighted by Keyshun Teal’s continued success in the hurdles.

Hopkinsville totaled 67 points to finish behind third-place Henderson County (75.75) and ahead of fifth-place Northwest (55).

Running Events

Keyshun Teal won the 110-meter hurdles in a season-best 15.29, while Kayden Humphrey placed fifth with a personal-best 17.16.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Teal added a runner-up finish in 41.67, another season-best. Carlo Jones was third in a personal-best 44.89, and Humphrey placed fifth in 45.44, a season-best, giving Hopkinsville three top-five finishes in the event.

In the 100-meter preliminaries, James Bradley ran a season-best 11.77 to place 19th, while Willie Ennels posted a personal-best 12.13 for 27th, and Kyrien Cannon finished in 12.32.

Hopkinsville found more success in the 200 meters, where Teal placed seventh with a personal-best 23.55. Ennels added a 17th-place finish in 24.53, and Bradley ran 25.54, a season-best.

In the 400 meters, Jayon Bass turned in one of the Tigers’ top performances of the day, finishing sixth with a personal-best 53.82. Tavares Burgess added a personal-best 58.62 for 23rd.

Savior Davis placed second in the 800 meters with a personal-best 2:06.34, while Tyson Cavinder recorded a pair of top-five finishes in the longer races. Cavinder finished fifth in the 1600 meters with a personal-best 4:48.45, then came back to place fifth in the 3200 meters with another personal-best 10:39.66.

Fernando Ginez Rojas also competed in the 1600 meters, finishing in 6:03.06, a personal best.

The 1600 relay team of Jaylen Ray, Jayon Bass, Carlo Jones, and Savior Davis placed fifth in 3:40.29, while the 800 relay team of Willie Ennels, Keyshun Teal, Jaylen Ray, and James Bradley finished seventh in 1:37.27.

The Tigers’ 400 relay team of James Bradley, Kyrien Cannon, Tavares Burgess, and Kayden Humphrey placed ninth in 46.71.

Field Events

Jaylen Ray led the Tigers in the long jump, finishing fourth with a season-best 19-0. Willie Ennels also earned a top-10 finish, placing seventh with a season-best 18-5.

In the triple jump, Keyshun Teal added another strong finish, placing fourth with a personal-best 40-3.

In the throws, Drew Thorson finished 21st in the discus with a season-best throw of 91-11.
