
Early offense pushed Calloway County past Hopkins County Central on Thursday, with the Lady Lakers scoring seven runs inside the first three innings on the way to an 8-1 victory over the Lady Storm.
A pair of two-out RBI singles by Isabelle Jamriska and Gabriella Yocum put the Lady Lakers in front 4-0, before Yocum and Audrey Overbey singled in runs to extend the lead to 7-0 in the 3rd.
Emily Ballard and Addison Blanchard each had two hits for the Lady Storm in the defeat. Ballard also took the loss in the circle, allowing eight runs, six earned, on 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Yocum and Jamriska each drove in two runs for Calloway, and Emerson Herndon had two hits.
Hailee Jones earned the win, giving up two runs, only one earned, on six hits with a pair of walks and five strikeouts.
Calloway improved to 3-5 with its second-straight win after five defeats.
Hopkins Central slipped to 1-6 ahead of a visit from Todd County Central on Friday.
