Kady Fuller’s two-out, three-run home run lifted Trigg County to a 6-4 win over Huntsville, Alabama, on Friday afternoon.

The homer was Fuller’s team-leading fourth of the season and her second of the game. She belted a two-run home run into the strong wind moving left to right at Discovery Middle School in Madison.

Fuller is hitting .542 with 20 RBI and 17 extra base hits for the Lady Wildcats this season.

Trailing 4-2, Maddie Smith led off the fourth inning with a single. Pinch hitter Jazzy Tejada drew a walk, and MaKenna Hendricks followed with a single to right.

Veyda Grinols smacked a double to the gap in right centerfield to score a run. Fuller followed by taking a 2-0 pitch over the 210-foot sign in left centerfield.

Tember Oliver pitched out of trouble in the top of the fifth inning as Huntsville loaded the bases with two singles and a walk. With one out, Oliver got a strikeout and a fielder’s choice to end the threat and the game.

Pool play games at the Bob Jones Chambers Classic are five-inning affairs and will decide Trigg County’s placement in Saturday’s tournament.

Trigg did its damage at the top of the order as Hendricks, Grinols, and Fuller were 6 for 9 with six RBI and five runs scored. Grinols’ hits were a double and a triple.

Huntsville, a Class 7A school that fell to 19-8 with the loss, saw its six through nine hitters get four hits and score three runs.

Huntsville took the lead in the third inning when Amya Duster clobbered an opposite-field three-run home run.

In the fourth inning, Oliver again sidestepped a big inning when Huntsville put two runners on with one out but only scored one run.

Oliver (10-0) scattered nine hits and struck out three.

Trigg County (11-2) will play Mars Hill Bible School of Florence, Alabama, on Friday evening before learning of their bracket placement for Saturday.
