Lady Rebels Pull Ahead Late in Win at Hopkins Central

Down 3-2 through four innings, Todd County Central erupted for 11 runs over the final three innings to claim a 13-6 softball victory at Hopkins County Central on Friday.

The Lady Rebels (5-4) scored four times in the fifth and five more in the sixth to grab control of the contest.

Todd Central added two more tallies in the seventh to go up 13-3 before Hopkins Central scored three times in its final at-bat.

The Lady Rebels out-hit the Lady Storm 16-11.

Abigail Choate went 3-for-6 with a double and three runs batted in while Ella Hall was 3-for-4 while knocking in two and scoring twice.

Naomi Gammon finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Olivia Welkel was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

Welkel was also the winning pitcher. She tossed the first four innings, surrendering two earned runs on seven base hits while striking out four.

Addison Woodall earned a save by pitching the final three innings. She allowed three earned runs on four hits.

Hopkins Central (1-7) was led by Kylee Satterfield, who went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in.

Layla Sorrells, Emily Ballard and Addison Blanchard each had two hits for the Lady Storm.

Hopkins Central scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the first.

After Todd Central tied things in the top of the second, the Lady Storm put up two runs in the home half of the inning to take a 3-1 advantage.

The Lady Rebels scored once in the fourth to pull within 3-2 before taking the lead in the fifth.

Todd Central has a pair of home games scheduled Saturday against Bowling Green and Webster County.

Hopkins Central is off until Monday, April 13, when it hosts 7th District foe Caldwell County.
