A slow start Saturday ended up costing the Todd County Central Lady Rebels the chance to advance in the 4th Region All A Classic softball tournament. The Monroe County Lady Falcons scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and made it stand up in getting a 4-2 win over the Lady Rebels at Clinton County High School.

Monroe County would score on a double, a groundout, and, what turned out to be the most costly of all, two runs on a Lady Rebel error as they took a 4-0 lead after one.

Abigail McPherson would score on a Monroe County error in the top of the fourth to trim the lead to 4-1. Todd Central missed an opportunity for a big inning as the Lady Falcons had three miscues in the inning.

The Lady Rebels would convert another Monroe County error into a run in the top of the 6th to trim the lead further to 4-2.

But that would be the end of the threat for the Lady Rebels as they would go down quietly in the top of the seventh.

Sam Case was 1-3 with a run scored for Todd County Central. Karli Herrera finished 1-2.

In the circle, Jocelyn Mock had a rough first inning. Abigail McPherson would come in to start the second and go the rest of the way. McPherson gave up no runs over five innings on two hits, striking out three while walking none.

Todd Central drops to 7-3 with the loss and will head south to play in the softball beach bash.
