Cougars Break Out of Slump with 15-0 Victory Over Todd Central

5-4-guerra

Logan County snapped a three-game losing streak in a big way Tuesday, pounding out 16 hits and defeating Todd County Central 15-0 in four innings during a 13th District softball matchup. The Cougars completed the regular-season sweep of the Rebels by a combined score of 27-2 in the two games.

Three Logan players had three hits or more in the victory. That included Nora Epley, who went 3-for-3 with five RBIs, a double, and her second home run of the season. Maddix Mowles, who finished 3-for-4, shocked two of five Cougar doubles and drove in four runs of her own. Hailey Burgess was 4-for-4 with three runs.

Shayla Johnson (5-5) was spectacular in the circle. She struck out five, walked none, and allowed just two hits in all four innings. Johnson faced just 14 batters. Abigail McPherson (8-8) took the loss for Todd, giving up 15 hits and 13 earned runs during 3 1/3 innings. Offensively, McPherson and Naomi Welburn accounted for the two TCCHS hits.

The Rebels (14-11), now 0-5 in district games, play their third straight road game Thursday at Caverna. Logan County (14-10) will play the first of five straight road games on Thursday at Daviess County
