There was no letdown for the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers Monday night. Just two days after winning their first 2nd Region All A title since 2018, the Lady Blazers hit the court at Christian County and came away with a straight-set sweep.
The Lady Blazers opened the night fast, rolling through the first set 25-14.
The Lady Colonels fought back in the second set and made UHA work a little harder. Still, the Lady Blazers took the second set 25-22.
The third set was a tight battle between the two teams. The Lady Blazers would ultimately claim the set 26-24 to complete the sweep over the Lady Colonels.
For UHA, Claire Chewning and Julia Thomas had big nights. Chewning had 10 kills and 3 blocks, while Thomas had 12 kills and 3 blocks. Outside hitters Olivia Oakley and Suzie Comperry combined for 8 kills.
Setter Sarah Peebles was at her usual best setting things up for her team with 30 assists.
For the Lady Colonels, Hailey Sparks had a huge night on the attack with 17 kills. Camryn Armstrong added 5 kills and 3 blocks. Peyton Owens led her team in assists with 27. Rylee Owens had a typical, consistent night for her with 13 digs, 2 assists, 2 aces, and 1 kill.
UHA improves to 11-2 with its 9th straight win. The Lady Blazers are set to host Hopkinsville Thursday in another 8th District duel.
