Ready or not, he’s back.
Award-winning TV/radio sportscaster Alan Cutler will be on air from noon-2 p.m. Monday through Friday on ESPN Sports Radio (1300AM/92.5FM) beginning Monday.
Maybe it is only fitting that Cutler’s first show will be on Halloween because you never know exactly what you will get from him other than brutal honesty and strong, strong opinions with no words minced.
“ESPN Sports Radio, home to sports in central Kentucky, is now home to one of Lexington’s very own legends of sports reporting,” said Lynn Martin, President of LM Communications in a release.
“We are pleased to welcome Alan Cutler, who has a long history of presenting the very best in sports. By bringing this legend back to local radio we once again show that being a live and local voice lets us provide something truly unique to the sports audience in Lexington.”
Cutler was the long-time sports director/anchor for WLEX-TV in Lexington but he has plenty of radio experience going back to 1975 when he broadcast Little League baseball. The New York native has the No. 1 rated show in his time slot in three markets — Lexington, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
I also thought he was great when he hosted the Cincinnati Bengals Radio Network for 14 years and I was really sad last year when the Bengals finally made the Super Bowl that Cutler was still not part of that team.
He had a lot of memorable moments as a TV sports anchor, sports reporter and sports director at LEX18 and never backed away from asking coaches and/or players the tough questions not everyone would ask.
He also recently co-authored the book “CUT TO THE CHASE” about his experiences with Dr. John Huang.
“This will be the only sports talk show in Kentucky that has no filter,” Cutler said. “Although I enjoy watching UK win, someone needs to be very honest about what is really going on. We will provide that, with some fun commentary and special guests.”
