
A matchup against the two-time defending Tennessee Division II Class A state softball champions figured to be a big challenge for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels Saturday and that turned out to be true. Columbia Academy scored ten runs in its first three at-bats on the way to a 10-1 five-inning win over the Lady Rebels in the Brentwood Invitational.
Columbia had six extra-base hits among its total of 13 hits on the way to the nine-run win.
Columbia Academy scored three in the first, three in the second, and then added four more runs in the bottom of the third.
The Lady Rebels were limited to just two hits in the game. Averie Luckenbill and Rylann Griggs were each 1-2 in the game.
Starting pitcher Abby McPherson was charged with the loss in the circle for the Lady Rebels.
Todd County Central (7-7) gets back on the field Monday when they host the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
