Lyon County High School has found its next athletic director, and Trigg County is now looking for one.
Matt Wilder was named the next AD at Lyon County Friday. He replaces Zack Thomas who was recently named the principal of the Caldwell Region Career Center.
Wilder has served in various coaching roles at Trigg County, including girls’ soccer and cross country coaches. He was also an assistant coach for the girls’ basketball and softball programs.
Wilder was one of four people named Trigg athletic director in July 2019 with the idea of sharing the duties. In 2021, the Trigg County School Board voted 4-1 to make the athletic director’s position a full-time job within the district, paying between $32,000 and $40,000 for the 240-day job based on experience.
In addition to his coaching success, Wilder was named the Region Athletic Director of the Year in 2022.
The Lyon County AD position has been a stipend position in the past. Wilder was also named Lyon County’s alternative program coordinator.
The move comes during the first week of fall sports practice.
The athletic director’s job was posted on Tuesday on Trigg County’s school website.
