Make it two shutouts in a row for the Christian County Colonels. The Colonel defense slammed the door on the Logan County Cougars Thursday night on their way to a 7-0 win at the Stadium of Champions.
The celebration of the win for the Colonels was muted by how the match finished. With about 4 ½ minutes left on the clock, a Logan County player was struck in the side of the head by a kicked ball from a short distance away. The player collapsed on the field and would remain on the turf for an extended period of time.
Once it became obvious that the injury was going to involve transporting the player from the scene, coaches and officials decided to call the game and allow medical personnel to do their jobs. After about half an hour, the player was removed from the turf and taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for further evaluation.

The Colonels controlled the match from the early moments. Just 2:30 into the game, Tyler Stokes headed in a pass from Bryan Linares and Christian County was up 1-0.
Christian Lopez scored off an assist from Noah Davis just three minutes later and the Colonel lead was up to 2-0. Leland Creamer was in the right place at the right time and rebounded a shot from Gage Montes that had deflected off the Logan County keeper. Creamer put the ball in the net at the 22:45 mark to make it 3-0.
Creamer would score again in the final two minutes of the half as the Colonels took a 4-0 lead into the break.
The Colonels kept the pressure up as the second half got underway. Noah Davis found the net at 43:15 to give Christian County a 5-0 lead. Ten minutes later Christian Lopez scored for the second time of the night. Christian County wrapped up the scoring with Noah Davis’ second goal of the night at the 62:00.
The win improves the Colonels to 2-1 on the season. They are set to meet Hopkinsville in an 8th District battle Tuesday evening at the Stadium of Champions.
