Heritage Christian Academy’s first-ever appearance in the boys’ 8th District soccer tournament will not be one that they will want to long remember. After battling to beat HCA by a single goal last week, the Fort Campbell Falcons settled the issue early tonight by getting past the Warriors 10-0.

Ryan Brewer’s second goal of the night, which found its way right through the hands of the Heritage Christian goalie, ended the match less than eight minutes into the second half and sent the Falcons on to the semifinals Tuesday night.

The Falcons did not take long to get started Monday evening. Chase Cribbett took a long shot from near the right corner of the field that hit the left post and deflected into the net just two minutes into the match. Ryan Brewer scored for the first time of the night at the 18:00 mark when he rebounded a missed shot from Dylan McDonald and put it behind the keeper into the net to make it 2-0.

Just three minutes later Kaleb Talbot took a pass and put it into the goal to extend the lead to 3-0. Mateo Cerritos Gatto then took a pass from Talbot and scored to make it 4-0 at 27:00. The Falcons would add two more goals over the final 13 minutes of the half to take a 6-0 lead into the break. It could have been more as the Falcons missed a penalty kick opportunity late in the half.

The Falcons outshot the Warriors 19-0 in the opening half as Fort Campbell’s attack just kept pushing the ball forward. And nothing changed as the second half got underway.

Fort Campbell would score four goals in the first 7:40 seconds of the second half to end the match by the 10-goal rule. Two of those goals came from Mateo Cerritos Gatto, who finished with three goals and two assists.

Ryan Brewer, Chase Cribbett, and Dylan McDonald had two goals each. Kaleb Talbot added one of his own to the total.

McDonald had three assists in the match. Kaleb Talbot had two for the Falcons.

For the match, Fort Campbell finished with 25 shots on goal, while Heritage Christian had none.

HCA ends their first full season as a KHSAA member with a record of 0-10.

Fort Campbell improves to 7-7 on the year. The Falcons will now play UHA in Tuesday night’s first semifinal. The Blazers beat the Falcons 5-0 back on September 16.
