The Franklin-Simpson softball team extended its winning streak to ten games over 13th-District rivals Todd County Central on Tuesday, holding the Lady Rebels to only three hits in a 14-1 victory.
Franklin-Simpson improved to 10-7 with its second straight win and evened its district mark at 1-1.
Addison Woodall pitched a pair of scoreless innings in the circle for Todd Central, but Allie Utley’s RBI triple got the Lady Wildcats on the scoreboard in the top of the third.
Neither team scored again until the top of the sixth when a sacrifice fly and a Lady Rebel error doubled the advantage, and RBI doubles by Hallie Boles and Kaitlyn Woodall, along with a two-run triple by Utley and Jasmine Grover’s RBI single, made it 9-0 Franklin-Simpson.
Kloie Smith’s two-run home run to left field capped a five-run seventh for the Lady Wildcats, and Zori Stout allowed her only run of the game in the bottom of the frame to finish a complete-game victory. Stout won for the sixth time this season after allowing a single hit with two walks and a pair of strikeouts.
Utley finished with four hits and drove in four runs while earning a save after giving up an unearned run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout. Woodall had two hits and drove in a pair of runs, and Grover and Smith each added two RBI.
Todd Central slipped to 6-9 with its second loss in a row ahead of a trip to Christian County on Thursday. The Lady Rebels won last season’s contest 2-1
