Looking for their first postseason win since 2004, the Todd County Central Rebels got a solid performance on the mound from Zack Robinson and were only outhit 6-5 by 2nd-seeded Franklin-Simpson on Monday, but were undone by five errors in a 9-0 district semifinal loss to the Wildcats.

Franklin-Simpson outscored Todd Central 31-1 over a pair of regular season wins but managed only two hits against Robinson over the first two innings.  The Rebels had runners on second and third with one out in the top of the 3rd but came up empty, and the Wildcats broke through with four runs in the bottom of the frame.

Brevin Scott’s RBI single started things, and Brady Delk followed with a run-scoring triple before a Rebel error and a run on a fielder’s choice brought in two more runs.

Robinson kept Todd Central in the game with two more scoreless frames before five runs in the bottom of the 6th put the game out of reach.  A walk and two hit-by-pitches loaded the bases before the first of two errors in the inning allowed a run to cross.  Delk capped a three-RBI night with a double to score two and the final run came in on a Rebel miscue.

Robinson allowed six earned runs on six hits with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts over six innings.  Grady Reding finished with three of the Rebels’ five hits.

Scott picked up the win on the mound, going the distance with a walk and ten strikeouts, and joined Delk with three RBI.

Franklin-Simpson will square off with Logan County on Tuesday in the championship game.  The teams split a pair of regular-season meetings, with the Cougars winning 7-1 at home and the Wildcats taking the second matchup 3-2.
