Trigg County senior Haydon Reynolds was in contention for most of the day at the Paducah Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday before finishing in fifth place with a 3-over-par 74.
Starting on No. 18 at the Paxton Park Golf Course, Reynolds was even-par through his first 14 holes of the day. That included 12 pars, a birdie on No. 5 and a bogey on No. 7.
However, Reynolds suffered a bogey on No. 14, then had back-to-back bogeys on 16 and 17. That dropped him three shots behind the leaders, but was still strong enough for the Top-5 showing in the event.
Landon Hunt of McCracken County, Ryan Stokes of Marshall County and Paducah Tilghman’s Evan Hack all finished at even-par 71. Hunt claimed medalist honors with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff.
Two other Trigg golfers competed Saturday in Paducah. Ethan Curling placed 81st with a 108 while Jackson Hubble was 91st with a 128.
