Things are new this season on the football field for the Todd County Central Rebels. A new coach and a new quarterback are the things that will get the most attention as the Todd County Central Rebels open the season at home Friday night.

Former coach Josh Robbins stepped down after the 2023 season and is now the head coach at Butler County. Former Todd County assistant Chris Fletcher took over in December. Fletcher previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Rebels during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Fletcher is not the only change for the Rebels’ program for the 2024 season. Quarterback Miles Reding, who passed for more than 1,100 yards and rushed for more than 600 yards, has taken his skills south of the border and is playing for Kirkwood this season. Look for junior Eli Morgan to start the season getting the vast majority of snaps at quarterback for the Rebels.

Morgan played in 10 games for Todd County Central in 2023, He caught 1 pass for 3 yards and scored a two-point conversion.

Look for the Rebels to be ground-heavy this season and look for sophomore Quinton Grace to carry a bulk of the load. As a freshman in 2023, Grace rushed for 725 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Brian Farlow gives the offense a player who can take it to the house on any play. Farlow caught 31 passes for 515 yards and 10 touchdowns. If the offensive line can give Morgan the time to get the ball to Farlow in space, there could be some electric plays for Rebels’ fans to cheer during the 2024 season.

One of the biggest holes, quite literally, on the field for Todd County Central to fill this season will be defensive lineman Kamari Harris. Harris had 18 tackles for loss last season and drew a great deal of attention from opposing offensive lines.

Defense could be an issue for the Rebels, especially early in the season. Todd County Central loss its top nine tacklers from last season, making Brian Farlow, at defensive back, the top returning defensive player.

The Rebels will have to find a way to slow down opposing offenses until their offense gets its footing, but the offense also needs to do its part.

Todd County Central did have its trouble scoring points in summer 7-on-7 passing competition, so keeping the ball on the ground and out of the hands of the opposition offense likely holds the key to any kind of successful season for the Rebels.

The Rebels will also have to stay away from the injury bug as they enter the 2024 season low on numbers.

The district portion of the schedule is not kind to a young team as it has the Rebels on the road at Fort Campbell and traveling to Steele Stadium to take on state title contender Owensboro Catholic.

The Rebels will open the season Friday night at home against Monroe County.
