Caldwell County’s Collin Whittington claimed medalist honors, but Lyon County took the team competition as the schools renewed their longtime rivalry on the golf links on Thursday.
Whittington and Lyon’s Cooper Collins battled for all nine holes at The Cullan at Mineral Mound State Park before Whittington got in with a 2-under-par 34 to nip Collins by just a single stroke.
Lyon’s team score bested the Tigers by six shots, 162-168.
For the Lyons, Carson Collins carded a 40 and Colton Gobin 43 while Jonah Ramey and Cohen Wiggins each shot 44.
Drew Richie finished at 46, Issac Defew 51 and Landon Crouch 55.
For Caldwell, Cole Wyatt carded a 42, Scott Cortner 44 and Landon Mitchell 48.
Lukas Harper had a 64 for the Tigers while Andrew Hall shot 68.
