This week’s Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ for the week of August 19 is University Heights Academy’s Calvin Givens. Givens was selected based on his performance in the Blazers All A Regional championship win over the Fort Campbell Falcons.
In a game that was a scoreless battle through most of the night. Givens came up big when his team needed him the most. He took a deflected ball off a corner kick and found a way to get it past the Fort Campbell keeper into the net for the only goal of the match in the 1-0 win over the Falcons.
His performance helped the Blazers win their 9th straight All A regional soccer championship and now UHA will advance on to play the 1st Region champion in the All A boys soccer sectional round.
The Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ is selected each week from one of the five schools in Christian County (Christian County, Hopkinsville, University Heights, Christian County, and Fort Campbell) based on their performance in a big game or event for their team that week.
