Lyons’ Comeback Bid Falls Short at Hopkins Central

Lyon County’s comeback bid fell short at Morton’s Gap as the Lyons saw Hopkins County Central hit 16-of-23 free throws in the fourth quarter for a 75-70 win.

The Storm hit 23-of-33 foul shots in the game compared to Lyon’s 13-of-20 effort from the charity stripe.

Lyon County used a big third quarter run to turn a 38-24 halftime deficit into a 53-50 Storm lead after three.

Eighth grader Jackson Shoulders had his biggest game of the season with 25 points. Travis Yancy hit five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points. Lyon’s leading scorers on the season – Max Wadlington and Gabe Board – had nine and eight points respectively.

Ethan Putty led Hopkins County Central (15-12) with 21 points, and Johntize Miller added 17 points.

Lyon County (7-17) will play Trigg County in the Fifth District semifinals Monday at Crittenden County.
