Like the 80s TV show, Christian County’s Matlock closed the deal for the Colonels in their win over Heritage Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Zamien Matlock scored the final two goals of the game as part of a three-goal effort as the Colonels beat Heritage Christian Academy 8-0 to pick up an 8th District win.

The senior came into the contest with one goal but equaled that just over two minutes in when he knocked home a rebound off a missed shot.

It was one of six first half goals scored by the Colonels, who put up 21 shots in the first 40 minutes.

Noah Davis got the Colonel scoring going with his fourth goal of the season just 90 seconds into the contest.

Christian Lopez scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the fourth minute to stake the Colonels to a 3-0 lead.

Alex Hale added a goal off a cross in the 13th minute with Erwin Macario and Jeremy Woolf adding first half goals.

Heritage Christian Academy was playing without its leading scorer Kallan Davis. The junior, who has scored 20 of HCA’s 23 goals this season, missed the game with a foot injury.

The Warriors, who spent the game packed in defensively to try and limit Christian County’s offensive chances, managed just one shot on goal.

Cayden Nowak made 17 saves for the Warriors, including several at point-blank range.

After Heritage Christian Academy won the first meeting between the schools in 2021, Christian County has won the last two.

The Colonels (8-3) have six shutout wins this season and improved to 2-1 in the district. Their Thursday matchup with Todd County Central was canceled with a Sept. 17 game at Henderson County next up.

Heritage Christian Academy (1-7-1) is 0-3 in the district and looks to avoid the No. 5 seed when they play at Fort Campbell on Thursday.
