Kentucky coach Mark Stoops got an unexpected surprise Monday and unlike the surprise he got Saturday night when mistakes cost his team in a loss to Vanderbilt, this was welcome news.

High school safety Dyllon Williams of Demopolis, Ala., called Stoops to let him know he was officially flipping his verbal commitment from Missouri to Kentucky just four days after announcing he was re-opening his recruitment.

The 6-2, 180-pound Williams was recruited by safeties coach Frank Buffano and had made an official visit to UK when the Cats lost to South Carolina in September.

He told CatsPause.com he got his first big-time offer from Buffano and that the assistant coach never would “sugarcoat” anything with him. Williams also liked that Buffano has been at Kentucky for several years and he’s counting on him being there for several more. He also liked how Buffano prefers versatile players.

Williams plans to enroll at Kentucky in January.
