Athletic teams across the area are not just exceptional on the court or on the field. Many of these outstanding young people involved in high school sports are also involved in many different ways in giving back to their school community and their community and are standing out in the classroom.
Those are the teams that are at the top of the list, or an ‘A-Team’ so to say. In this case, the Chick-fil-A ‘A-Team’. Teams that exhibit great core values like accountability, growth, respect to others, quality, and service.
Such is the case with the girls basketball team at Christian County High School. While they were taking part in the Queen of the Commonwealth tournament at Bullitt East, the Lady Colonels ventured to Louisville and took some time out of the day to help The Hope Village.
The Hope Village exists to bridge the gap between the streets and stable housing by creating and operating transformational housing communities in partnership with people experiencing homelessness.
The Hope Village is a pilot project where individuals experiencing homelessness can live temporarily outdoors with access to food, shelter, showers and outreach services in Louisville.
During their visit, the Lady Colonels organized pods for the homeless that are in transition. Those individuals have jobs but are in need of materials and things needed for their jobs. While they were on site, the Lady Colonels organized the pods, which held hygiene products and other items for them.
The Christian County Lady Colonels basketball team, on the court, and off, is certainly a great example of a Chick-fil-A ‘A-Team.’
